Picturesque Wedding at Stunning Heritage Site L'Abbaye d'Oka
We are blessed with such an incredible mix of history and modernity in Québec, and L’Abbaye d’Oka is the perfect reflection of that - and it’s only about an hour of the city! Audrey and Mathieu picked this breathtaking Heritage monastery, that had been established in 1881 by Cistercian monks off the island of Montréal, as their venue and it was a visual feast!
Audrey got ready at the venue, looking elegant and stylish in a low back dress - one of my favorite shots of the day is of her putting on her dress in front of the Abbey’s magnificent round window! Mathieu got ready at home, looking handsome in a classic tuxedo, and looked even more dashing driving to the venue in a Porsche. The ceremony was at a catholic church in Oka, and Audrey stole the show with her spectacular cathedral veil!
We went back to the Abbey for cocktails in the courtyard, then headed out onto the picturesque grounds for portraits. It had very English garden vibes, with old trees, classical styled gates and stone steps on the sprawling grounds.
The reception was in the main chapel area of the Abbey, with a single long table set up for the meal against the backdrop of warm wood and cathedral white walls that ran up to a fabulous dome! It was so pretty! The first dance was beautiful, the lights dimmed in the chapel area to set a new mood and an even more impressive backdrop.
Such a charming and tasteful day for the glowing couple!
