How did you meet?
We actually met on Bumble! We matched immediately and I contacted Jason about 30 seconds later... On Bumble the woman has to make the first move in order to start a conversation and I didn’t waste any time. That night we texted until 2 in the morning and there was definite text chemistry, but we didn’t meet in person until 6 weeks later! Jason kept asking me out and for whatever reason I didn’t feel ready. When we finally met there was a major spark and we quickly became inseparable. Nine months later we moved in together and two months after that Jason proposed!
What's the first thing that attracted you to Jason?
I never realized I had a “type” until I met Jason... I was just generally attracted to everything about him! If I had to pick one thing, I’d say his smile was the first thing that attracted me to him. He also has a great sense of humour, I think we spent most of our first date laughing.
What's the first thing that attracted you to Ashley?
I know it’s cliché, but I think the first thing that I was attracted to (other than Ashley’s smoking hot bod obviously) was her laugh and smile. This is when we met obviously. Over text I was attracted to her wit, humour and ability to keep up with and surpass me while texting for hours.
What was the most challenging thing about planning your engagement?
We weren’t that involved in planning our engagement party. My parents, my brother Chris, and our wedding planner Rachel were given full control and wanted to surprise us! My only requests were that we hold the party at my parents’ house, that Chris cater the event and that the colour scheme be pink and gold!
What do you love about the other?
Jason: I love the way Ashley holds hands. How she runs to the door to say hi to me when I get home. This isn’t a quirk, but I love the way she snuggles up and pops her head under my arm when I’m lying on my stomach. It’s hard to describe but it’s pretty cute.
Ashley: I don’t think there’s anything I don’t love about Jason... He’s so incredibly loving and affectionate, and makes me the happiest I’ve ever been. One of my favourite quirks of his is how he likes to organize the dishwasher in a particular way. Every time I load it, he rearranges what I’ve done... My dad does the exact same thing!
What was the highlight of your engagement party?
We can’t pick just one highlight... The evening was so magical! The flowers and decor were perfect – Rachel has such an eye for detail. Chris’ food was beyond delicious and Sadie captured so many beautiful moments. Being surrounded by our family and closest friends made the party all the more special.
What's one piece of advice you would give to others planning their engagement?
Try not to be too influenced by other peoples’ opinions. Stay true to what you envision for your big day.
What are you most excited for on your wedding day next year?
We got engaged in November 2017, so we’re just excited for the wedding to finally be here! We can’t wait to celebrate our love with our family and friends. I think I’m (Ashley) most excited to walk down the aisle. And I’m (Jason) most excited to see Ashley in her dress.
